Our Approach
At Think Play, we view development through the lens of the whole child. Rather than focusing solely on behaviors, we seek to understand the developmental foundations that support learning, communication, relationships, emotional regulation, and problem-solving.
Grounded in developmental psychology and the DIR® Floortime™ model, we meet children where they are developmentally and support growth through purposeful relationships and play.
Our Process
-
Development Before Diagnosis
Labels can provide important information, but they do not tell the whole story. We look beyond diagnoses to understand how a child experiences the world, including their sensory processing, emotional regulation, communication style, thinking patterns, and relationships. This developmental understanding helps guide meaningful intervention.
-
Relationships Are the Foundation
Children learn best through warm, responsive relationships. Whether working directly with a child, coaching parents, or collaborating with educators, we prioritize connection as the foundation for growth. Strong relationships create the safety and trust children need to learn, explore, and take on new challenges.
-
Play is the Work of Childhood
Play is how children communicate, learn, solve problems, express emotions, and build relationships. Through play, we gain insight into a child's developmental strengths and challenges while creating opportunities to strengthen core developmental capacities in a way that feels natural, joyful, and meaningful.
-
Tailored to Your Child's Needs
Every child is unique. Intervention is tailored to each child’s developmental profile, strengths, interests, and goals.
-
Beyond the Therapy Room
Development happens everywhere - not just during sessions. We collaborate with parents, educators, and caregivers to help children apply emerging skills across everyday environments. Whether supporting a child in school, coaching parents, or facilitating peers interactions, our goal is to create meaningful change that carries into daily life.
